Oregon's famous berry, the marionberry, is a hybrid between the Olallie and Chelhalem blackberries and was originally bred at Oregon State University in the early 1900s as part of a partnership with the US department of agriculture. This flavorful berry has since become known as ""the king of blackberries"" and is still exclusively produced in Oregon to this very day.
